LESSONS FROM A REBELLIOUS PASTOR

This was mentioned in Pastor Adeboye's message on RTM on 22nd of June 2012. According to Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the first parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Osogbo was growing fast when the Pastor in charge of that Parish wanted to changed the church to his own church, the founder of the Church, Rev. Akindayomi pleaded with him not to do so, since the Church belongs to God, but the Pastor insisted that he would change the name of the church to his own because he was the one who preaches to the members. They were still in the meeting discussing the matter when wind just came, there was no rain. The day following the said pastor who wanted to change the name of the Church to his own became leprous. You and I know that no leper can Pastor a Church.

We all need to know that the Lord purchased the Church with His own blood. What effrontery we display when we say MY CHURCH. Let each of us tread carefully, because we are on holy ground.
You are blessed and remained blessed.

PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE ON HIS PAST

Sincerely, I do not think it is good to be talking about someone’s past, but there are instances when such past are to guide us into the future, making such reference to my mind is good, especially when the person concerned had publicly shared his past.

So it happened during the FESTIVAL OF LIFE message by Pastor E. A. Adeboye aired on Dove Vision Television on 12th June 2012 that he shared this testimony about his past. If I were to be Jesus Christ, I do not think I would like to save someone who I had used to be. I was a womaniser and I had so many girl friends. Then, I combined sports with photography and that itself made it easy for me to have many girl friends. But Jesus Christ saved me and the Lord started using me. So, the news got to one woman who had a baby that was lame. She brought the baby for prayer and asked to see the Pastor, they directed her to me in the Office, when we sighted each other, we started talking... and afterwards she asked. I want to see the Pastor? I told her that I am the one, she was surprised and asked, you, the Pastor? And I said Yes. By the time she was leaving, God has healed the child, the child was walking. God can use anyone who fully surrendered to Him irrespective of His past. God can use anyone. May He find you and me worthy of such noble use. Amen.

OF MERCY AND TRUTH

OF MERCY AND TRUTH
Prov. 3: 3
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart”:

How merciful or compassionate are you? Matt 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy”. Mercy gives joy in three ways; one, when you show mercy to someone, it brings joy to you that God could use you, even you to do such a thing, whenever God use me to bless someone, I always count it a privilege. It is indeed a privilege to be useful in one way or the other. Secondly, the recipient of the mercy, that is, the receiver of the act also rejoices because your act of kindness is refreshing. Thirdly, God who enjoins us to be merciful is happy and He is determined to show you mercy and pay you back in multiple folds.

Truth gives unusual calmness in every storm. Truth makes you bold not rude. An assurance that you are on the Lord’s side, it removes every form of fear from you. Even when you are punished for what you did not do, the burden is light because of inner peace that the Ultimate Judge has acquitted you.

God frowns at any society without mercy and truth. Hosea 4:1 “Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land”.  Christ in His days chided the Pharisees in Matt 23:23 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone”.

Prov 3:3-4 “Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man”. KJV

In the above, the scripture enjoins us to bind the Mercy and Truth around our neck. We should firmly hold on to the two. If we do so, two things are promised; FAVOUR and GOOD UNDERSTANDING.
Many of us have prayed and prayed for favour. Perhaps our breakthrough lies in this verse 3. “Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart”:  Each of us do see someone who needs our help. I enjoin you to do your best for the person for whatever you do would be credited to your account and who knows if he or she is the Lazarus who you might see in heaven.

Finally, God’s paths are full of mercy and truth Psalm 25:10 “All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies”. Let your paths be full of mercy and truth as well. God bless you.
