The story of the impotent
man as recorded in John Chapter five is so fascinating.
He had been there for a
whole thirty eight years, long years in a certain problem. He looked hopeless
and helpless. Yet he was not faithless. He was a man who was under a severe
condition he could not walk, but the mercy that located him was more than his
problem. His healing was greatly delayed, but it was not denied. I thought he
would have gone home and resigned to fate after he had waited for a whole
thirty six years without healing, but LORD, to whom shall we go even if it
seems ill with us.
The apt description of
his own situation speaks volumes to my heart. He said “John 5:7 Sir,
I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I
am coming, another steppeth down before me. KJV this could mean three
things.
1.
I had no man that cared for me as to get me into
this pool.
2.
No man is with me as at now to put me into the
pool.
3.
I could not expect any man even in the future to
be so kind as to want to have me put into this pool for my healing.
My situation is so
hopeless, can’t you see? Dear reader, Is
this your own case?
Today, I saw a group of
students walking on EKO Bridge and yet no man cared for them to stop and give
them a ride. They had walked a great distance on that bridge when the driver of
the BRT Bus that I boarded stopped and picked them, of course, they do not
expect anyone to stop and help them, but the HELP of the helpless helped them. May
be, you are currently singing Help of the
helpless abide with me. My Saviour will help you.
It is important to know
that despite the fact that the miracle that this man expected did not come on
time, he did not leave the HOUSE OF MERCY: BETHESDA. The question is IF YOUR
MIRACLE SEEMS TO BE DELAYED; WOULD YOU STILL CONTINUE TO SERVE HIM? God took
notice of how long we have been in our situations and He has enough mercy and
compensation for those who will wait on Him and for HIM.
Perhaps, you are looking
for something. You will surely find if you are patient with your God. Matthew
7: 7 (ASK : Ask, Seek and Knock). The Bible even told us of the patience of Job
(James 5:11...Ye have heard of the
patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very
pitiful, and of tender mercy. so that we may know that the LORD is pitiful.
I remember some weeks ago. Someone came to me to narrate how he needed help, it
is so obvious to both of us that I could not help him, but what he said struck
my heart. I HAD NO ONE.
The man in our text truly
had no one, but it is equally true that he lacked good communication skill. The
simple question was DO YOU WANT TO BE MADE WHOLE? The right answer would have
been YES SIR. Among his peers, there were others who were better, yet they did
not receive their healing. He was
greatly favoured. They were many but the mercy of God was looking for him
and made him whole. Jesus was looking for him even when he was not expecting
HIM. Christ knew that the man had been there for a long time and Christ was
willing to bear with him. Christ could have said shut up, can’t you answer a simple question? He waited and cured
him. God will wait for you. This is not the first time that God was waiting for
man. He waited for man when Lot was leaving Sodom. He waited for that blind man
in Jericho, the woman whose daughter was sick also received His attention after
all. All of these people waited. Would you wait for Him to show Himself strong
in your life.
The uniqueness of his own
miracle was great. Among other people that were healed in the pool, none of
them were recorded in the Bible but it is to the honour of this man that God
put it there for us to read. There were people who would never have found their
names mentioned by National Dailies were it not for the miracles God did for
them, an example of this is the case of a couple that waited for 17 years to
have babies and as you may be aware, they had four children. People who had
children late in the Bible had great sons.
If you have God, then you
have all men, because our God can use anyone, so do not say I HAVE NO MAN. Look
unto GOD, He himself will look for you. But please stay in His house till he
found you. God bless you.
