A THOUGHT ON THE LOVE OF GOD
SOME FACTS ABOUT THE LOVE OF GOD
God’s love is manifest in your life. Think about the fact
that you were born into this world, many were stillbirth, many were aborted and
many were wasted with all kinds of drugs on the pretence that the would be
parent/s were not ready. Aren’t you thankful for the love of God that brought
you into this world the way you are?
Many of us were born perfectly, I want you to remember a
man that was born blind in John 9:1-4 “And
as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his
disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents,
that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his
parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” If you
have any infirmities or born with infirmities, I can confidently say that that
infirmities is to make the work of God manifest in you. Remember that Jesus did
not leave that man the way He met him. In verse 7 we read John 9:7 “And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of
Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and
washed, and came seeing.” Whenever Jesus meets a man who needs help, He
does not leave them the way they were. Whatever be your condition Jesus will do
something about your case. I can confidently say that because I know and I am
pretty sure that He loves you. I want you to consider these few points on the
love of God.
1. God’s
love is Universal –we were told in Matt 5:45 he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain
on the just and on the unjust. Jeremiah complained to God in Jeremiah 12:1 Wherefore doth the way of the wicked
prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? KJV when
David also considers the provisions of God for unbelievers in Psalm 73: 3-12 “For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw
the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no bands in their death: but
their strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are
they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a
chain; violence covereth them as a garment. 7 Their eyes stand out with
fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8 They are corrupt, and speak
wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.9 They set their mouth
against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. 10 Therefore
his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. 11
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? 12
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in
riches” perhaps you are born again and serving God and you wonder why
things seems to be against you while others who are ungodly made it easily in
lives. Smile because God knows what he is doing in and with your life. It may
be that He wants your muscles toughen for some certain days He cannot afford to
let you fail in the day of adversity (you know that if you do, your strength is
small). Probably, what you are craving for is not in His agenda for you and He
wants the best for your life. No matter what God loves His very own and He love
them deeply and affectionately. Never be like Jonah who was angry because God
showed mercy on other people. Those complaints raised by those holy men were
addressed by God in those text if your read further. Psalm 73:16-19 “When I thought to know this, it was too
painful for me; 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I
their end. 18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them
down into destruction. 19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment!
they are utterly consumed with terrors.” God’s love makes the sun to shine on good
people, He does not restrict the sun only to them. He make the sun to shine on
the evil, give them rain, refresh them. Think about it if men were God!
Obviously it would have been different. Looking at John 3: 16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. The Bible says God so loved the world. Many politicians
love their pocket, some other politicians love their constituency, husband
loves his wife, and vice versa, children love their parents, philosopher loves
wisdom, scientist loves experiments, sinner loves sin… Each human love has his
scope because we are limited but God loves the world. It gladdens my heart that
you are part of the world that God’s love.
2. God’s
love is eternal - Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD
hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an
everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” KJV
Lam 3:22-23 “It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his
compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness”. KJV This is a great mystery. God’s love goes
beyond this present time and even runs to eternity. Jesus told us that He is
going to prepare a place for us. He promised to come and take us to Himself
what a love! I can’t wait for Him to come and take me home.
